Inspired by the model railroader’s basement
recreations of the Industrial Age, Scott Sendra has created a series
of paintings and dioramas called “Dedicated to Reproducing
the World in Miniature”. The loops in the paintings follow
similar unending paths, around and around and around, never reaching
their final destination. The paintings reproduce a metaphoric world
that is partly derived from an interior collection of personal symbols
and abstract thoughts and partly a representation of the exterior
world—flat, commercial and repetitive.
Scott Sendra received his MFA in Painting from
The University of the Arts in June 2004. He received his BA in Studio
Art from Michigan State University in 1996. He lives and works in
Maplewood, New Jersey. |
